Use with Undergravel Filters
The PHD powerhead can be used with an undergravel filter. It pulls water through the gravel of the aquarium which acts as a filter by mechanically and biologically filtering the aquarium. The constant water circulation and powerful venturi ensures an effective uptake of oxygen, essential to the well-being of any aquarium.
Use as a Circulation Pump
Additionally, PHD powerheads are ideal as a stand-alone option for circulating water in an aquarium. Strong water movement is essential for the well-being of marine reef aquariums and is desirable for many types of freshwater fish as well. Many tropical fish live naturally in fast-flowing streams and rivers and the powerful water flow provided by PHD powerheads is ideal for replicating this environment.
