| Zeoliths are water containing, feldspar like silicate minerals.
The total surface area of this media can be upto 600qm/ccm. This enormous surface area provides nitrogen decomposing microorganisms with a perfect habitat. This allows the zeoliths to act as natural ion exchangers, for example the ability to adsorb ammonium compounds. Along with their characteristics as ion exchangers, zeolliths are, due to their exceptionally fine porous structure, able to function as mechanical filters. Heavy metals and toxic metabolic waste products from livestock are absorbed and chemical bound or biological rebuilt.
